Keisha looked to Stefan. He shot an angry glance at Liana and shook his head. âWe were fucking Liana,â he said, practically snarling when he said her name.
Adam jerked his attention from Anton to Stefan at the harsh sound of accusation in his voice, but he kept his thoughts to himself.
âEverything was great, we were all reaching orgasm at once when she shouted something and Anton screamed like he was in incredible pain. Then his eyes rolled back in his head and he went into convulsions that lasted almost a full minute.â
Keisha nodded. âHe was just coming out of them when I arrived.â She glared at Liana. âWhat did you do to my mate?â
Liana bowed her head, but she said nothing.
âWhy do you blame Liana?â Adam glanced at her and then at Keisha. âWhat do you think she did?â
âSomething with her mind.â Keisha ran her hand over Antonâs forehead. âI can sense that much in him. Can you do anything?â
Adam shook his head. âHeâll come around on his own. I feel his consciousness returning.â He glanced once more at Liana. âAre you sure it was her?â
âYes. I felt it too. Just not as powerfully as Anton.â Stefan stood up and stalked over to the woman.
He stood over her, more dark and menacing than Adam had ever seen him. âWhat happened? What did you do to him?â
Liana slowly stood up and pushed her long hair over her shoulders. She looked regal now, not beaten as sheâd appeared a moment ago, and her voice carried an air of command Adam hadnât heard from her.
âIt appears that while you were fucking Liana, she was making love. While she was blissfully enjoying an orgasm, Anton was raping her mind, going where he had no right, where he had neither been invited nor been given permission to enter. Whatever happened, he did it to himself.â
âYou bitch.â Stefanâs low curse laced with an unspoken threat raised the hairs along Adamâs spine.
âStefan! Back off and leave her alone. Antonâs coming to. Letâs see what he has to say before we jump to conclusions.â
âI will be gone by morning.â
Liana looked every bit the powerful goddess, but Adam sensed something unexpected beneath her cool façade. An unspoken pain, and terror that had her teetering on the edge of hysteria.
âYouâll go nowhere,â he said.
Lianaâs eyes flashedâhurt and anger and other emotions he couldnât interpret, but she didnât lower her gaze. âI am a free womanâmy own woman. Iâll not stay where Iâm not trusted. Where I canât trust.â
Anton groaned and struggled to sit. Keisha helped him, murmuring soft, soothing words of encouragement. Adam moved quickly to support his shoulders, but Anton motioned him away and stared at Liana. âTrust works both ways, Liana.â
She bowed her head, acknowledging nothing.
Silence settled over them, a silence broken only by the sound of breathing, of many hearts beating.
Adam glanced behind him and realized the small study was filled now with silent packmates. Mei and Oliver, Xandi, Logan and Jazzy Blue, all of them here.
